Marketing
& Sales Promotion Department
The Marketing and Sales Promotion Department of Toulouse
University II Le Mirail’s delocalized Institute of Technology
is located in Figeac, birthplace of Jean-François Champollion
of the Rosetta Stone fame. Département Techniques de
Commercialisation or TC as it is called,
offers the two-year, four-semester French DUT
(Higher National Diploma, UK) within the framework of the
European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), and
a B.A. in the Marketing and Sales Promotion
of regional agricultural products, such as foie gras, cheese,
fine wine and saffron. The French DUT can
also allow direct entry into the fourth and
final year of a BA.hons. in business in the
United Kingdom.
The modern buildings of the leafy campus are equipped with
state of the art teaching equipment and aids. The ratio of
direct broadband connected computers to students is practically
one to one. Spacious lecture halls filled with natural light
offer stunning views.
Figeac is located in the heart of foie gras country where
high-tech firms sub-contract for the aviation industry of
Toulouse. Rolling hills, sweeping vistas, heather, bracken,
fruit orchards and fat cattle are a mirror image of Wales
under perfectly blue skies.

The
DUT Curriculum
During their 1640 hours of teaching —
the highest number of teaching hours a student may receive
within the European Union — our students receive a thorough
grounding in Sales Promotion and Marketing. Their programme
of study covers economics, law, psychology, communications,
marketing, retail, international trade, accountancy, mathematics,
foreign languages, communication skills, information technology
and art and culture.
Their practical work ranges
from banking to organizing the sales promotion of high-tech
products. In the first two semesters, they run a supervised
and graded business project prior to a two-week
work placement. The second year requires another
supervised and graded business project plus
a ten-week work placement in France or abroad.
Both business projects and work placements are completed by
a written report defended before a jury
of academic staff and a corporate
professional.

University
Restaurant
From a large, modern kitchen run by chefs selected through
national competition, the small, stone-flagged restaurant
with French windows looking out onto the woods upholds the
culinary traditions of the Lot. A five-course
meal only costs around three euros.
Throughout most hours of a working day, the restaurant
is also open as a cafeteria, offering a choice of
hot and cold drinks, day fresh croissants
and sweet rolls, and fresh fruit.
Both services are paid for by rechargeable magnetic card.

Student’s

oversees living standards and ensures subsidised rates for
the IUT restaurant, residence halls, and tickets for cultural
events in and around Figeac. It also manages and processes
any other information relevant to campus life.

Clubs
and Associations
The bank Société Générale oversees
and helps the Investment Club through which
our students learn to handle the mechanisms of the Paris Bourse
and other stock exchanges. In the Club Oenologie,
students learn the value of personal business relations leading
from the conviviality of appreciating fine wine. The Art
Club encourages the creative aptitude of students
by holding regular art shows. The association Les
Arts à Vif organises a whole series of salons
and exhibitions that are study-oriented, yet good fun.
Through the Bureau des Sports, the full range
of local and regional training facilities and competitions
up to the national level are open to our students. Rugby,
Volleybal, Football, Handball and Basketball
are the most popular. And under the aegis of Kfées
Bonheur students give vent to academic stress by
partying hard at any excuse — from
birthdays, to national days, to fancy dress and hip-hop, any
excuse is good enough for a party!
